Vijay plays Sivakasi, a welder who left his obscure village to seek his fortunes in Chennai, and has never returned. He falls in love with Asin, who wants his parents to come to her house and ask for her hand in marriage. Vijay goes to his native village, only to find his father, his mother living in disgrace in her own house, and his sister married and packed off in a disgraceful manner - all through the machinations of elder brother played by Prakashraj. The rest of the movie is about how Viiav sets right evervthing.
